Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find Rowland Mini Storage? Our facility is located at 20 W Haley Springs Rd, just off US-191. You can’t miss us!
How far are you from downtown Bozeman? Rowland Mini Storage is only 5 miles from downtown Bozeman. That’s just a 10-minute drive via US-191 S.
Are you close to any other businesses? Cold Smoke Coffeehouse, The Garage Bozeman, Farmacy, and Denny Menholt Honda are a few of the great businesses near our facility.
Other than Bozeman, do you serve any other neighborhoods? Absolutely. Our top location means we’re also the most popular choice with residents of Four Corners, Gallatin Gateway, Woodland Park, Belgrade, and their surrounding communities.

Do you offer student storage? We sure do. Our facility is easily accessible from Montana State University, so we’re the top choice with students from the area. They love being able to store their belongings with us at the end of the semester.

Can you legally sleep in a storage unit?
No, it is illegal. Across the United States, including in Montana and Bozeman, storage units are zoned as commercial or industrial property, not residential. Living or sleeping in one violates local zoning, building, and health codes, as well as the facility's rental agreement.

Do storage units have cameras inside?
Generally, no, not inside individual units. For privacy reasons, cameras are typically focused on common areas, such as the entrance/exit gates, perimeter, hallways, and aisles, to monitor facility access and deter theft.

How long can I stay in my storage unit?
Storage units are typically rented on a month-to-month lease basis. This offers flexibility to rent for as long as you need, whether it's short-term (one month) or long-term (many years). Most facilities require a 7- to 30-day written notice before you move out.

How much is self storage per week?
Self-storage units are virtually always priced and paid for on a monthly basis, not weekly. To estimate a "weekly" cost, you would divide the monthly price by four, but you must still pay the full monthly rate to rent the unit.

What are your access hours? Our facility is open for access every day from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

What security features do you have? Our compound is fully fenced and also has gated access.
Is drive-up access available? That’s right. Simply drive straight up to your storage unit and park right outside.
What’s the easiest way to pay my bills? It doesn’t get any easier than our online payment system. All you need is internet access and a credit card.

What is illegal to do in a storage unit?
Common illegal and prohibited activities in a storage unit include:
  • Residential Use: Sleeping, living, or operating a dwelling (for humans or pets).
  • Storing Illegal Items: Stolen goods, illegal drugs, and unregistered or uninsured vehicles (unless specifically allowed for vehicle storage).
  • Storing Hazardous Materials: Flammable, combustible, toxic, or explosive items (e.g., gasoline, propane tanks, paint thinner, fireworks, chemicals).
  • Storing Perishables: Food, wet items, live plants, or anything that could attract pests, mold, or bacteria.
  • Running a Business that Requires On-Site Operations: While storing business inventory is fine, most facilities prohibit using the unit as a permanent office, workshop, or retail space, as it increases traffic and can violate zoning.
